Okay, so before I jump right into stress eating I want to address the topic of stress for a moment. There are different types of stress which will be another podcast for another day, but let’s focus on two here.
So there’s acute stress which is a short lived reaction to something. This is the infamous “fight or flight” scenario. So here your body will quickly release the stress hormones cortisol and adrenaline to help you react quickly.
You typically recover quickly and go about your life.
Now, when stress becomes ongoing and chronic (the second type), that’s when we start to get run down. Your body thinks you need help and keeps sending out these stress hormones to help you deal but it taxes you with less and less recovery time. So blah blah Dr. Jenn, how does this relate to stress eating? Tune in to the episode and let’s talk about it!
